What brand of monitor are you using?

Quake 4

Genre: First Person Shooter

Developer: Raven Software / Id Software
Publisher: Activision

Release Date: October 18, 2005

Widescreen Support: Native with correct FOV, with .cfg file edit

UPDATE: As up Point Release 1.3, the game natively supports widescreen resolutions, and therefore you do not need to edit the config file directly. Just download the patch !

  • Start the game once, to create the .cfg file
  • Browse to the \Quake 4\q4base directory, and open the file Quake4Config.cfg in a text editor
  • Find and edit the following lines. Example settings are for a Dell 2005FPW monitor:

seta r_customHeight "1050"
seta r_customWidth "1680"
seta r_mode "-1"
seta r_aspectRatio "2"

  • FOV is correct!

Hi, I used the above in my autoconfig, checked that it had gone into the config (it had) but game only runs in 680 X 340 (or whatever). :upset

I cut & pasted the above. But height and width are the wrong way round! No wonder it didn't work. Changed them round and it works a treat. :grin
